Morning Walks

We've been doing morning walks  before work almost every day. My motivation is two-fold. One, of course, is to get out and get moving. Second is to get pictures for the book I am writing! We walk at the Sebastian Storm Water park at 7 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and around Fellsmere on the other days. If you don't GOYB and join us, here's what you are missing out on!

One of the coolest things about living in Fellsmere is the wood carvings around town. This is a new one on Broadway, just a little north of Marsh Landing.
This is my favorite one so far. It's also on Broadway, south of 512 by the school and park. By the way, I saw a bear sculpture once and want to go back and photograph it, but can't remember where it is. If you know where it is, please let me know.
I got this Shrike eating a big bug!
The three birds that I need to add to my book are Mockingbird, Cardinal and Bluejay. This is a really bad time of year to photograph them as they are molting and having terrible, terrible hair days right now (feather days?). Anyway, this would have been a good shot of a mocker if he wasn't molting.
Not all of us are willing to tromp through wet grass at 7:00 am. Here is our resident slacker, Roo, being carried by Kristen.
This was a totally awesome surprise at Storm Water park - a glorious Swallow-tailed Kite, just begging for me to take his picture. By far the best look at, and best photo I've ever gotten of a swallowtail.
This is another good shot of a molting mocker. I think he actually looks cute with messy hair, but it's not the best for an identification shot.
This would be a perfect shot of a Northern Cardinal, but alas, he too is molting.

As witnessed above, morning walks have been super awesome lately. Drop me an email if you want to join us. Remember, you can see cool stuff on TV or the internet, but you can only experience it if you GOYB and join us!
