Event Update: River Walking...

We did a 3 mile walk along the river tonight. The skies were threatening so I didn't bring my real camera, I just brought my iPhone, but got some decent shots nonetheless. Not sure where my head was tonight, but luckily I had Heather along to point cool stuff out to me. If you didn't choose to GOYB tonight, here's what you missed:

A squirrel giving me the evil eye and telling me not to touch  his dinner.
This was one of Heather's finds, a really beautiful skink. This picture doesn't do him justice, he was really pretty.
Another of Heather's finds, a large black racer. He was quite accommodating and let me take a few pictures. Wish I had my long lens with me. I said that phrase a lot tonight!
You might have to enlarge the photo to see, but we counted at least 6 bunnies in this one spot.
There were zillions of giant land crabs out today. Saw some young (orange) ones and lots of older blue ones. Again, wish I'd had my real camera!
This was a cool plant. I just liked the way the photo came out.
Someone was getting rained on a LOT. We were lucky, the rain held off till we were having dinner (inside) then the heavens opened up again.

It was a great walk, saw a bunch of really cool stuff. Sorry you missed it! We are doing our SOS walk on Sunday, join us if you want to see all kinds of cool stuff!

Great Diet Tip!

This week I accidentally bought Cabot Habanera cheddar instead of my usual Jalepeno cheddar. I discovered that I use a LOT less cheese on my morning eggs as it's a tad on the hot side. Well, technically, my underpants burst into flames when I farted after I ate it, so it's a little more than a "tad" hot. But it's really yummy, and if you can tolerate it, it's a nice way to spice up eggs.

Event Update: Walk at Riverside park

Due to rain and the fact that I didn't get home from GA till late yesterday and was very very tired, we (Heather and I) just did a 2.5 mile walk today. Despite how tired I was, I still GOMB, why didn't you?? If you didn't, here's what you missed:

A nice red-bellied woodpecker.
 A suggestive pair of mushrooms.
Man, my mind must be in the gutter... is it just me, or are these mushrooms mating??

Anyway, this is just a very small sampling of the cool stuff you miss when you stay inside! Join us on a walk soon, the world awaits you!

Losing steam...

Been on vacation too long, losing some steam. Only did a one mile walk today, but ran into some friends along the way:

 Me and Buford.
Me and Mac. Mac only had one eye, lost the other to diabetes, poor puppy.
HFC David joined me today.

Next walk will probably be the SOS walk this Sunday, details to follow. Remember, you can see puppies on tv, but you sure don't get loved on by large strange doggies sitting at home on your butt! Join us for a walk, see neat things, meet strange dogs :-)

Three mile walk

Dd a three mile solo walk today. Saw a few interesting things:

A black chestnut that looked exactly like a barn owl.
Some moo cows who said "hello". Well, technically, they said, "MOOOOOOOOO" but I think that means hello.

Remote Boot Camp...

Being on vacation does not mean slacking off. I have walked everyday I've been here (today I did 3 miles) and Alison sent me some boot camp workouts to do to make sure I don't get flabby(er). Today I did:

 100 push ups...
 100 Side lateral lunges
200 1/2 jacks (for a total of 100 jumping jacks)
100 squats
100 crunches. Obviously, this picture was taken by David.

2 more boot camp workouts to go, 9 more miles to walk. It's a 3 mile round trip down the mountain on which my inlaws live and back. That was terrible grammar, but at least I'm walking 3 miles a day! Woo-hoo!

Make sure you follow the sites, we have some fun walks and other stuff coming up, hope to see you there!

Event Update: SOS Walk at Jackrabbit Mountain

Today I found out that SOS walks are just a tad easier in Florida than they are on a mountain in Georgia. But, HFC David and I both survived the six mile trek. If you didn't join us, here's what you missed:

I promised David's mom that I would make him wear a hat. He wasn't happy about it.
The cool thing about this trail was all the mushrooms, not just the numbers, but the incredible variety.
This just looked like an elf or something should live in it.
I don't think I've ever seen a blue mushroom before.
This is a feather from a broadwinged hawk. I didn't know they had spots.
 Another cool shroom.
A neat caterpillar.  Between the shrooms and the caterpillar, I was starting to feel like I was in a Jefferson Airplane song.
This was a life critter for both HFC David and I, but I don't remember what he was.
This was a really neat, iridescent green beetle of some kind.

This was not one of our easier SOS walks, but it was a blast, and we saw lots of new things that I never would have been able to experience from my couch! Join us on a future walk if you want to start seeing cool stuff too!
